In modern home decor, LED lighting is becoming more and more common. It makes the presentation look better. But, on the other hand, this kind of light could sometimes be misleading. Most likely, this has been asked of you a lot. Let’s now get into the details of both LED rope lights and LED strip lights.
What is a strip of LEDs?
A flexible circuit board has light-emitting diodes on it. People often call this lighting LED tape lights or ribbon lights. Most of these lights have stickers on the back, making them easy to put up.
LED strip lights are flat, bendable lights that can be cut to any length. Because these lights are so thin and flexible, you can put them almost anywhere. The quality of these lights also goes up and down. This means that you can buy both high-quality and low-quality strip lights.
What is an LED Rope Light?
The light bulbs in these lights look like long tubes. There is a built-in light every few inches that light up the inside. Because of this, the rope lights look glowing or flashing. For these lights, you can get a tube or an epoxy tube. These materials are clear, which means that light can go through them. Different lengths of ends can be cut off of a string of lights.
LED Rope lights and LED strips are different in the following ways:
But LED rope lights and LED strip lights are each different in their ways. These kinds of bulbs are different from each other in their ways. Both of these lamps are used for different things. Here are some of these qualities:
- Illumination
- Less expensive to install
- Longevity
- Light quality
LED strip lights and rope lights both use LEDs. These LEDs are sources of light. In reality, LEDs use less energy than other lights. But the rope lights can also be lit with bulbs that use electricity.
Size:
LED rope lights have a bigger diameter. Rope light tubes can have a diameter of only 1 or 2 centimeters. You can clip these bulbs into place. These clips hold the tube in place.
LED strip lights are great for many uses because they are very thin and can be bent. In addition, these lights can be put in a single row, two rows, or more.
Luminance:
Compared to strip lights, LED rope lights don’t give off as much light. Also, the tube turns yellow as time goes on. So, the brightness of these lights gradually goes down. Also, the color temperature can’t be changed with these lights. Because of this, there are few good places to use rope lights. These bulbs need to be more brightly to be the primary light source. Since they can’t handle a lot of light, we can’t use them anywhere that needs them.
There are different levels of brightness for LED strip lights. The brightness is determined by the chips that are installed. When bigger chip sizes are used, the increase in brightness is more noticeable. For example, the strip lights with 5050 chips are brighter. The strips with fewer chips will also give off less light. The amount of light that these sources give off can also be changed. These lights can be turned down, change colors, and come in many different styles.
Flexibility:
The LED strip lights give you a lot of freedom. We can bend these lights up to 90 degrees, in general. So putting something in a corner is accessible.
LED Rope lights can be bent in different ways. However, more significant bending degrees are not possible. Therefore, putting them around poles makes them more useful.
Cost:
As a general rule, a gadget will cost more the more functions it has. This is also true for all of these bulbs.
Rope lights look and work. Since this is the case, they cost less than LED tape lights.
LED strip lighting could be made in more than one step. We need the best tools and people first and foremost. So, they are expensive. But if we look at strip lights as a whole, they are not costly. The reason is that they last longer and do a better job.
Luminous Fluence:
Everyone knows that manufacturing standards vary from one business to the next. Still, the LED strip lights are a little better than rope lights. There are the following parts to the strip lights:
- The best possible CRI
- True uniformity of colors
Beam Lighting
A rope light’s beam can be as comprehensive as 360 degrees. Rope lights spread their light over a large area because they are round. In reality, the tube of the light bulb is clear as glass.
On the other hand, most LED tape lights are turned at an angle of 120 degrees. When compared, the beam angle of COB LED strip lights can be as wide as 180 degrees.
IP Score:
The IP rating shows how much security is provided. There are different levels of waterproofness for LED strips (or “IP ratings”). These lights are standard in kitchens, bathrooms, pools, and other indoor and outdoor places.
The IP certification gives the rope lights a high level of protection against water and dust. For the same reason, water can’t get through them.
The following was used for the case:
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic wraps around the light strings. There are strategically placed light bulbs inside of them.
LED strip lights have a housing made of sticky silicone. This material is excellent at not getting hot. It also lets these lights be used in different ways.
There is a limit to how long either of these lights can be on before the electricity starts to go out. The rope lights can be put up for up to 80 meters in length. This is the total time an AC-powered lighting system can be used. But the cable length is cut down to 15 meters when DC voltage is used. When this happens, they will need a different energy source to keep going.
Most LED tape lights can run on either 12V or 24V DC. When working with DC, you need to keep light strings short. This is because the DC input voltage tends to drop fast. Usually, five-meter-long reels of strip lights are sold. The strips can have different lengths.
Rope and strip lights with LEDs can be used in many different ways
Even though they are both LED lights, they are used differently. Some of these uses are listed below, but they are not all of them.
LED Lights on Tape:
- Furniture for the kitchen, pool, and bathroom, like benches and shelves
- Ambient lighting in Stairs and public spaces
- Ropes with lights:
- Decked-out balconies and walkways that show off the landscaping
- clinging tightly to support structures
